Rosemary Rudland est née en Angleterre où elle a fait ses études. Plus tard elle étudie le français à l’Université de Grenoble et décide de s’installer dans le sud-est de la France. Elle devient journaliste bilingue, écrivant en français et en anglais pour des medias internationaux. Sa passion pour les enquêtes lui viendrait peut être de son grand-père, ancien directeur général des services secrets britanniques. Co-fondatrice de plusieurs publications en région Rhône-Alpes, elle a aussi reçu un prix pour le meilleur reportage social d’un magazine national. Depuis 1996 Rosemary habite en Normandie avec son mari, Yvan Barbieri, ancien photoreporter. Ecrivaine, elle a publié plusieurs romans dont certains ont été primés à l’étranger. Elle a été enquêtrice pendant 11 ans pour la Fondation Brigitte Bardot. Passionnée aussi par l’histoire de la 2e Guerre mondiale, elle est membre de la Commonwealth War Graves Foundation et du Comité Juno Canada Normandie.
Rosemary Rudland was born and educated in England. She also studied French at the University of Grenoble and later settled in the south east of France where she became an journalist working in both French and English for international newspapers and magazines. Her passion for in-depth enquiries might be inherited from her grandfather, former Director General of MI5. She was co-founder of several newspaper publications in the Rhône-Alpes region, and winner of a national award for a best social case study. Rosemary moved to Normandy in 1996 where she lives with her husband Yvan Barbieri, a former photo-reporter. For 11 years she was an enquirer for the Brigitte Bardot Foundation. Now an author Rosemary has published several award-winning novels. She has a profound interest in the history of World War 2, and is a member of the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation and the Comité Juno Canada Normandie.
Nelly Spencer est anglaise et travaille pour la protection animale. Lors d’une enquête en Normandie elle rencontre Louise, une vieille fermière, et découvre dans sa grange une jeep du Débarquement. Louise lui raconte l’histoire d’un soldat Canadien blessé, caché à la ferme, amoureux d’une infirmière qui risque la trahison. Nelly Spencer, an English woman working for an animal welfare organisation in France, is sent to investigate an isolated farm in the northern region of Normandy. What she discovers, however, is something that will change her life forever: a dusty Allied Army jeep left from the D-Day invasion. An elderly farm lady named Louise claims it belonged to her husband Michel. As she gradually recounts the story of the jeep and the romance between an injured Canadian soldier and his nurse, Nelly is drawn into the sombre memory of war-torn France. At the same time confronted with the uncertainty surrounding her own childhood.
‘That Summer in Normandy’ is a poignant journey between historical reality and a romantic novel, woven back and forth like a cross-stitch tapestry against a backcloth of wartime heroism. From the stricken Landing Beaches to ebullient D-Day celebrations, the reader follows Nelly, in her quest of identity, through three interweaving stories of love and betrayal soaked in evocative details of life in rural Normandy. Embarquement, plateforme 6. Certains courent. Il y a de la tension dans l'air. Suite aux récentes attaques terroristes la France est en alerte rouge…
'Ceci est une annonce urgente!', crie un haut-parleur. 'Si vous apercevez des objets ou des bagages non accompagnés, ou constatez des comportements irréguliers, merci d'en informer la police.'
Les passagers internationaux se bousculent pour trouver leurs places et s'installer.
Dehors un homme tire une dernière bouffée de cigarette et la balance sur le quai.
"Eloignez-vous des portes automatiques!"
L'homme remonte dans le train.
Les passagers sont tous assis, ils pensent être en sécurité.
Mais quand le sifflet donne le départ, et que les portes claquent, tout peut arriver…

Boarding now, platform 6. Some people run. There's tension in the air. Further to the recent terrorist attacks, the French president has raised security alert to its highest level…
‘This is an urgent announcement,’ hails a loudspeaker. ‘If you notice any left items or luggage, or any disruptive behaviour, please report to the police.’
International passengers jostle to find their seats, and settle down.
A man takes a drag on his last cigarette and throws the butt onto the platform.
Please keep away from the automatic doors.’
He steps back, inside.
Passengers are now seated, they think they are safe and sound.
But when the whistle blows, and the forbidden doors slam shut, anything might happen…
Lorsque Millie part de chez elle en Normandie, dans le nord de la France, pour rendre visite à ses petits-enfants au Canada, elle espère que tout se passera bien, mais la vue d'un jeune garçon souffrant de chagrin qu'elle rencontre dans le salon de l'aéroport la touche profondément.
